İThe people can live without eating food during the weeks, but he can live without water only for a few days. The life gets in trouble as a result of the decreasing of body water. When it is lost %20, it results in the death. The water in human body varies between %47 and %70. There are many functions of the water in the body. Digestion and absorption of the foods, controlling of the body temperature, providing the slipperiness of the joints, are its main tasks.
 
Adults get nearly 1 liter water with drinkings, also they get 1- 2 liter water with foods. As %85-%90 of the foods such as vegetable, fruits contains water, it is supplied some amount of the liquids from these foods. Every person should get 1 gr water in return of the food with 1 calorie. For example, a man who is fed with 2000 calorie, should approximately get 2 kg liquid. The human body loses water approximately 500 ml through the skin, 300 ml through lungs, 1500 ml with urine through kidneys, 200 ml through intestines daily. These amounts vary due to the climate conditions, illness and sport activities. %1 reduction of the water concentration in the body creates our need for thirst. When the body loses its water, physical performance and concentration drop, dizziness occur. In further cases, dizziness, vomitting, muscle convulsion and exhaustion occur.


The cleanness of the water to be used is an important issue. If it is available a water which is not known from where and in what conditions it is brought up, it must certainly be boiled during 3-5 minutes. Otherwise, the microbes in the water can lead to severe diseases. Packed bottle waters are safer and they should be preferred in this meaning. Especially, if the one who drinks the water is a child, it should be more sensitive. As they are open to microbes more than us, they have more risks to get ill.


Some people may not like to drink water alone. These people should certainly prefer the liquids whose tastes are nice for them. This liquids can be the drinkings such as light tea, lemon juice and herbal teas. The calorie amount and nutritional value of these drinkings are also important. For example, consuming 1,5 liter acid drinkings per day is objectionable in order to meet the need of liquid. Or ready fruit juices are very sugary and colored. Consuming them can cause getting weight unnecessarily. None of the liquids which are consumed, can not fulfill the function of water in the body. The most ideal liquid for us is the water. Reaching to the water is always easier. By starting with small sips, then the amount can gradually be increased.


Eating lots of vegetable and fruit is also a good alternative. For example, % 95 of water melon is water. It is both easy to make it available in the meals and it is more economical. It is also beneficial of the presence of other vegetables and fruits.
In summer, especially consuming Ayran (drink made of yoghurt and water) is useful for not dropping the blood pressure.


It is acceptable of it to be a little salty. However, too much salt brings harm more than benefit. It is enough to consume it  2-3 glasses per day. It both meet our calcium need and we meet our liquid need.

Because of all of these reasons, daily liquid need should be met surely. Let us remember, the water is health.
